Kelly: Leaders still doing important work

Posted

I know the political heat is high right now, but it’s important to remember that our leaders are still doing important work in Congress.

I recently saw Congressman David Schweikert on TV promoting the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act and after reading more about this legislation, I’m very encouraged that we have leaders like him as well as those on the Democrat side of the aisle taking the initiative when it comes to battling cancer.

This legislation would make it so that these groundbreaking multi cancer early detection (MCED) screenings, which can test for dozens of different cancers, would be covered by Medicare.

These screenings enable doctors to catch cancers in the earlier stages when they’re easier to treat, will help us turn the tide in the war on cancer. The bill is co-sponsored by the majority of lawmakers in both the House and the Senate, and I’m hopeful that it’s only a matter of time before this legislation is passed.

Before Congress adjourns for the year, I’m confident that Congressman Schweikert and his colleagues will push this forward and help save lives.
