Input sought about Pinal County hazard mitigation

Posted

Pinal County and the municipalities within the county are working to review and update the Pinal County 2016 multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan.

The goal of the hazard mitigation plan is to reduce the loss of life and property caused by natural hazards through long-term strategies that will reduce their impact. Strategies that will help keep natural hazards from becoming natural disasters, according to a release.

Updating the plan is a three-step process. First, the natural hazards most likely to occur in communities are identified and profiled. Then, the vulnerability to these hazards is assessed. Finally, strategies to protect people and property from these hazards are developed.

The planning team invites businesses, industries, residents and other interested parties to provide information and comments about potential hazards and suggest mitigation strategies.

View the 2016 plan at pinalcountyaz.gov/EmergencyManagement/Documents/Pinal_County_MJHMP_2016.pdf.

To submit your suggestions or comments or to ask questions about the hazard mitigation planning process, contact the planning team at eoc.planning@pinal.gov

Comments and suggestions will help the county’s mitigation efforts reduce the loss of life and property to natural hazards.
