I-17 ramp to I-10 to be closed overnight Wednesday

Drivers need to prepare for delays and detours Wednesday night when the southbound Interstate 17 ramp to eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed, state transportation officials said.

The closure will be from 8 p.m. Oct. 9 to 5 a.m. Oct. 10, for a traffic shift.

At the same time, the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at 24th Street will be closed, and eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes between I-17 and 32nd Street, according to a release from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Detour: ADOT officials suggest westbound I-10 to eastbound Loop 202 to southbound Loop 101 to westbound US 60 or Loop 202 to reach eastbound I-10.

When the southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 reopens, drivers can expect a new lane configuration. The existing lanes between 24th and 32nd streets will be split, according to ADOT.

There will be a roadway barrier and a work zone with three lanes on each side. Drivers wanting to exit at 32nd Street are encouraged to move into the right three lanes before 24th Street, transportation officials said.
