Grand Canyon Chapter DAR participates in National Day of Service
Posted
The Grand Canyon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has celebrated the
Seventh Annual National DAR Day of Service by recently planting trees.
Members gathered on Sunday, Oct. 10, at Chaparral Park, 5401 Hayden Road, to help the city of
Scottsdale plant trees for the many who were lost in a monsoon storm in July 2021, according to a press release.
DAR Chapter Regent, Karen Andrews and Day of Service Chairman, Jessie Wicks with 15 members helped backfill the soil in to holes of six pre-planted fruitless, olive trees, said the release, adding the drip system was then set up as the watering source.
Not only was gloves and shovels required, the chapter donated $505 to the city of Scottsdale for the Memorial Tree Fund, noted the release.
The NSDAR Day of Prayer is held on the Sunday closest to Oct. 11 each year.
Honorary Regent, Kandy Wagenbach read a prayer for the members participating on a service project.
Honorary Regents attending included: Terri Mott, Stephanie Troth, Katie Paulsen, Carmen Wendt, and Kandy Wagenbach.
