Goodyear's first Shake Shack to be housed downtown

Posted

Goodyear announced Thursday the city will have its first Shake Shack in the heart of the new downtown concept.

The restaurant is known for its American food like Angus burgers, milkshakes and chicken fingers. The location will be at the Goodyear Civic Square or GSQ location, just north of 150th Drive and McDowell Road.

Phoenix Shake Shake manager thinks Goodyear will like the upscale burger location’s offerings.

"We want to be your more modern-day, roadside burger stand," said Derek Tiritilli, general manager, Phoenix Uptown Plaza Shake Shack, in a statement. "We do great things for our communities, and we can't wait to see you Goodyear."

Mayor Joe Pizzillo said the concept is another good addition to the heightened retail offerings that the GSQ will provide.

"The city of Goodyear is thrilled to add this popular eatery to our new downtown district," said Mayor Joe Pizzillo in a statement. "Shake Shack has a huge following, and we are very happy to welcome them to Goodyear where they are sure to be a favorite of our residents. Shake Shack adds another great concept for dining and heralds the long-awaited arrival of many more exciting businesses that will join them at GSQ. We are looking forward to more announcements in the near future."

The entertainment and cultural hub will feature high-end dining, retail, residential, hotel and entertainment offerings. With more than a half million residents within a 10-mile radius of GSQ, the venture is expected to thrive and provide much-needed entertainment to the city that’s grown 45% in the last decade.

Other restaurants recently announced at GSQ are The Stillery, as well as a Gastropub concept.
