Global Women’s Jazz Summit Sunday at Mesa Arts Center

The Global Women’s Jazz Summit will be held 3–9 p.m. April 23 at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St., in honor of International Jazz Day.

A celebration of the talented women in jazz music, this free outdoor event features saxophonist Mary Petrich, vocalist Nayo Jones with internationally known pianist Nicole Pesce, Beth Lederman featuring Kimberly Weston, Nash Divas and Lisa Hightower, according to a release.

“Mesa Arts Center is excited to bring back a celebration of International Jazz Day by celebrating women in jazz — a moment that is long overdue,” Randall Vogel, deputy director of Mesa Arts Center, said in the release. “Jazz is America’s greatest cultural creation, and we are pleased to partner with International Jazz Day AZ Foundation.”

Presented by Mesa Arts Center and International Jazz Day AZ Foundation, this summit joins events happening in more than 180 countries throughout April as part of UNESCO’s annual International Jazz Day celebration. Since 2015, the International Jazz Day AZ Foundation has been uniting Arizona around International Jazz Day and producing free festivals for the public to enjoy with the support of generous sponsors and donors. The 10th annual summit is the first dedicated to women musicians.

The Global Women’s Jazz Summit is supported by Visit Mesa.
