Glendale student honored for proposal for reintroduction of jaguars to Arizona

Marlin Filmore, a freshman student at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, earned a free visit to the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium for his marketing proposal for the reintroduction of jaguars to Arizona.

The proposal, which was submitted as part of a class project, caught the attention of the zoo's marketing department due to its unique approach and thorough research. The proposal included a comprehensive marketing plan, complete with social media campaigns and community events.

"We were blown away by Marlin's proposal," Jamie Maurer, assistant curator at Wildlife World Zoo, shared in a news release. "Not only was it well researched and presented, but it showed a true passion for conservation and education. We are thrilled to award Marlin with this free visit to the zoo and cannot wait to see what he will accomplish in the future."

The reintroduction of jaguars to Arizona is a hotly debated topic, with conservationists and animal rights activists arguing for the importance of preserving the species and their natural habitats, the news release states. Filmore's proposal focused on educating the public about the benefits of reintroduction, including the potential for increased tourism and the positive impact on the ecosystem.

"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to visit the zoo and to meet the jaguar zookeeper," Filmore said. "I hope that my proposal will inspire others to get involved in conservation efforts and make a difference in the world."

The free zoo visit includes admission for Filmore and his family, as well as a one-on-one conversation with the zookeeper.
