When comedian Brian Kohatsu woke up Wednesday, the first news item he saw was the on-stage attack of comic Dave Chappelle late Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
The Glendale comedian, like other comics, had seen this before. Just a month earlier, comedian Chris Rock was slapped on stage by Will Smith after a joke during the 94th Academy Awards. Now it’s happened again in the comedy community.
“I hate to say it didn’t surprise me,” Kohatsu said Wednesday from his Glendale home of the Hollywood Bowl incident, when a man ran on stage and tackled Chappelle. “But some of the other details that have come out — I guess the guy had some weapons on him, too. That just makes it even more scary.”
