Ghostlight Theatre performs ‘Nunsense’

Ghostlight Theatre, 13541 W. Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, will perform “Nunsense” Thursday, April 27-Sunday, May 7.

Performance times are 7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as well as 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

“Nunsense” is a hilarious talent show staged by five survivors at the Little Sisters of Hoboken nunnery, the rest of the sisterhood having succumbed to botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia.

The remaining “Little Hobos” parade their talents at a variety show staged to raise funds so that the last four of the dearly departed can be buried.

“Nunsense” offers a cornucopia of hilarity for the whole family, proving conclusively that nun rhymes with fun.

The cast: Christine Cavazos is Reverend Mother; Kira Kadel is Sister Mary Amnesia; Kendra Schroeder is Sister Mary Hubert; Sarah Ashlee Bary is Sister Mary Leo; and Megan Tenney is Sister Robert Anne.

“We had an absolute blast working on Nunsense.” said Brenda Goodenberger, director. “I had the pleasure of playing Sister Amnesia earlier this season at a fellow theater, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to direct it just six months later, here at Ghostlight.

“This show is funny and over the top, and crazy. As it happens, so am I, and so are these nuns, so it was a perfect fit. We hope you join us at Mount St. Helen’s Convent, just stay away from the soup!”
