Gaynor Ann Landon

Gaynor, wife of James Arthur Landon, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease; at her home in Apache Junction, AZ. Through this ordeal, she had the love and support of many family and friends. Gaynor had been a patient at Barrow Neurological Clinic in Phoenix since 2015 under the care of Dr. Jeremy Shefner and his support team. Most recently, she was under the home care of Hospice of the Valley. Always the adventurer, she eagerly participated in two different pharmaceutical tests for ALS drugs not yet approved by the FDA but slowing the progression of the disease.
Gaynor was born on January 12, 1942 to Walter and Anne Jakubowski; in Detroit, Michigan. She married James Landon in 1972 in Atlanta, GA. They lived in Georgia, then Texas and finally Arizona.
She is survived by her loving husband, James of 51 years; by two children, James Curtis Landon and Christopher Scott Landon; two stepchildren, Kim Landon Boyd and Brad Jefferson Landon; eight grandchildren: Benjamin Landon, Rose Landon, Sienna Landon, Chloe Shawl, Kathryn Boyd Crabtree, Kelly Boyd Spring, Sarah Landon and Alyssa Landon; and two great-grandchildren, Boyd Crabtree and James Crabtree. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Kenneth Jakubowski and her sister-in-law, Fran Jakubowski, of Detroit as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by daughter Jessica Ann Landon and sister Irene Shiner.
Gaynor was a devout Catholic and member of St. George Roman Catholic Church in Apache Junction, AZ. She had a 39-year career as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines; based in Chicago, Miami, Atlanta and finally in Dallas/Ft. Worth. When initially interviewed by Delta in 1962; she clinched the job by saying, “I want to sell Delta Airlines to everyone.” Gaynor was one of the most well-liked and respected flight attendants in the entire Delta organization. Her file of favorable letters from both passengers and co-workers was enormous. Gaynor especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her loving husband, her family and her many friends will greatly miss this beautiful, incredible woman that truly loved everyone and had such a great thirst for knowledge of all things. She was truly an amazing person.
