Preceded in death by parents, Carl and Olive Skare; and daughter, Pamela Walters.Ev was born August 13, 1930, in Duluth, MN, and graduated from Duluth Central in 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1953 on the airplane tender Currituck working in the print shop. While aboard the Currituck, Ev met sailors serving with the Navigators and his life changed as he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.Ev worked as a printer in the Minneapolis area and later owned his own locksmith business, A&E Lock and Key. Ev loved music, playing the clarinet in high school, singing in the Great Lakes Choir in the Navy. He was a tenor in a men's quartet and church choirs in both Minnesota and Arizona. From 2000-2006 Ev spent several summers in Slovakia with an American team, teaching English to unchurched children using the Bible as the textbook. Driving back and forth between Minnesota and Arizona he spent several weeks doing lock work at Wycliffe Bible Translators in Duncanville, TX. Ev's heart for missions expanded as he met many missionaries, retired, on furlough and in training at the Wycliffe campus.Friends often commented that Ev had the best retired life - Minnesota condo in the summer and Arizona condo in the winter. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, boating, following the Twins and Vikings, puzzles and playing games, but spending time with family and friends were most important to him. He faithfully served the Lord he loved.A celebration service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Pequot Baptist Church, 30050 Rasmussen Rd., Pequot Lakes, MN.
