Erlenn passed away July 3, 2019 at his home in Sun City West, AZ. Born August 1,1928 to parents Oscar and Orphie Rasmussen in Crocker, SD. Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He started working on a neighbor's farm in 7th grade. Graduated from Bradley High school in 1946. Immediately joined the Marine Corp. at age 17. After his honorable discharge he went to meat cutting school and worked at the Red Owl Meat Dept. in Pierre and Watertown, SD.He married Marion E. Hemmingson on October 17, 1948. They were blessed with five children, Lynn, Luther, Mark, Monte and Tami.In 1949 he started to work for Swift and Co. and worked there for 18 years. He was part owner at Hub City Livestock in Aberdeen for 10 years and part owner in Loken Livestock in Watertown. He did order Cattle buying for Jerry Braun for 2 years. In 1979 he moved his family (wife and daughter) to Dodge City, KS and worked as a cattle buyer for IBP. In 1981 they moved to Sioux City, IA where he was a Supervisor for Cattle Buyers for IBP and traveled 5 states. He retired from IBP at the end of 2000 and he and his wife retired in Sun City West, AZ.Ras was active in the Lutheran church-(ushered and on church council). He loved being with all family. Loved sports - played Basketball in High School. After High School - Softball, bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. In retirement he watched Diamondbacks baseball, Suns Basketball, AZ Cardinals Football, PGA Champions and Horse Racing.Preceded in death by parents; 2 half siblings, Mildred and Benjamin; and step-granddaughter, Abbey Schnell.Survivors are wife, Marion; children: Lynn (Mike) Sandvig - Aberdeen SD, Luther (Roberta)-Loveland CO, Mark (Genny)-Washington MO, Monte (Mary)-Lincoln NE, Tami (Joel) Konrad-Geneva IL; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Allen-Wessington Springs SD, Orland-Mendota Heights MN, Elwin-Columbus OH; and sister, Elaine Blashill Rapid City/Crocker SD.Memorials to the Sun City West Foundation. Services were held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 13724 W. Meeker, Sun City West, AZ on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.
