Dog shot in Scottsdale after attacking owner and friend

Posted

A dog was shot and killed in Scottsdale earlier this week after the owners said it attacked them, police said.

Scottsdale police responded to a medical call on Oct. 24 that included a shot fired in the 400 block of North Scottsdale Road.

A man and woman who were watching the Arizona Diamondbacks game suddenly began to cheer, startling the woman’s pitbull, according to a police report.

The dog attacked the two of them until the woman gave the man a gun and told him to shoot the dog, according to the report.

The man fired a single round into the dog’s back, killing it, according to the report.

A search of the room produced no handgun or casing, the report said.

Police located the bullet, which was lodged into the floor, and recovered it, according to the report

The dog was taken to a veterinarian’s office for a necropsy, the report said.
