‘Day of the Cowboy’ event in Gold Canyon includes music, fireworks

A “Day of the Cowboy” event celebrating Western heritage to be held in November in Gold Canyon is to have a buffet dinner, music from two bands and fireworks.

The 4-8 p.m. Nov. 12 event is co-sponsored by Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa, 6100 S, Kings Ranch Road, and the Gold Canyon Chamber of Commerce to help benefit Superstition Community Food Bank.

“We used to do this event 10 years ago and it was more of an all-day thing. Since this is the first year we are bringing it back after a 10-year hiatus, we are going to start out slow. Dinner and live music will commence at 4 p.m.. Fireworks probably around 7 p.m.,” said Susan Sharp of the Gold Canyon Chamber of Commerce.

The Day of the Cowboy event features a 4-7 p.m. BBQ buffet dinner at the resort to include BBQ ribs, grilled chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, pasta salad, corn bread and apple cobbler.

Reservations for the buffet will be accepted starting Monday, Sept. 11, at 480-671-5517, with buffet prices of $39 for adults and $25 for kids under 12.

Two live country Western bands, including Arizona’s Canyon Band, will play many of your country favorites. A second band will be announced later.

“So, dust off your cowboy/cowgirl boots and hat and join us for this old-time country gathering,” according to a release.

The Superstition Community Food Bank will be doing a Thanksgiving food drive at the event.

“Please help by making a ‘Thanksgiving’ donation for a family in need so that they can have a blessed Thanksgiving. Most of us are very fortunate and have a lot to be thankful for and it would be wonderful to rally together to support this cause,” the release states.

Donation suggestions include cranberry sauce, stuffing, frozen turkey, canned/fresh/frozen veggies, rolls and dessert/pies.

Sponsorships are still available for this event; go to DayOfTheCowboy.com or call Susan Sharp at 480-671-5589.
