Conley: Lifelong Republican responds to lifelong Republican voting for Gallego

Posted

In response to Sam Campana’s letter published 8/23/24 in the Independent Daily, I cannot idly sit by and just let it go unchallenged.

I am a lifelong Republican of over 60 years. I also served for over 20 years in Washington state as an elected non-partisan who ran on general election ballots. I currently serve on several boards in Sun City. My wife served in the Washington State Legislature for eight years as a conservative Democrat.

I need to respectively disagree with Ms. Campana. You would think that the only issue in the upcoming election is abortion, but according to the Supreme Court ruling this is a state issue, not a federal issue.

We have big issues facing our country and us all. Ruben Gallego supports the Biden/Harris administration that has allowed millions of illegals to continue to cross our border, allowed fentanyl to be pushed by the drug cartels and allowed soaring crime throughout the U.S.

We also have unchecked wasteful government spending causing inflation and the cost of everything to go way up. We cannot let these problems continue and have a free and safe country.

Ms. Campana has a right to her opinion. But those are not conservative values. I pray and hope that you will think long and hard about who you vote for this fall!

Editor’s note: Ms. Campana's letter also appeared in the Scottsdale Independent online. Do you have an opinion on this issue? We’d like to hear from you. Reader reactions, pro or con, are welcomed at AzOpinions@iniusa.org.
