The Buckeye Police Public Safety Communications Center has been recognized for meeting high standards for service.

On Friday, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc voted unanimously to award the center reaccreditation following a rigorous review of policies and practices.

The CALEA accreditation process involves ongoing documentation, internal review, on-site inspection and independent assessment to ensure a public safety agency is committed to professional excellence. CALEA considers several factors for reaccreditation including management, performance, responsibilities and preparedness to address natural and man-made critical incidents.

The Buckeye Police Public Safety Communications Center has maintained CALEA accreditation since 2019. The most recent reaccreditation award is for four years.

“We want our community members to know they are in good hands,” says Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall. “When someone dials 911, they can feel confident the person on the other end of the line is ready to help, has the experience and training to handle any kind of emergency, and can gather the right information to help police and fire respond appropriately.”

The Buckeye Police Department is the only dually-accredited agency in Arizona with both the communications center and law enforcement department holding CALEA accreditation.
