Buckeye mayor elected to MAG leadership posts

Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn was elected chairman of the Transportation Policy Committee of the Maricopa Association of Governments at its annual meeting in Phoenix this week.
The TPC is responsible for overseeing development of the 20-year Regional Transportation Plan that guides transportation planning in the region.
Orsborn served as vice chairman of the committee for the past 12 months. He was also selected as one of three at-large members of the agency’s seven-member Regional Council Executive Committee.
Both leadership positions are for one-year terms.
“I am honored to be selected by my fellow mayors and other government leaders to this position. Transportation planning is essential for the vitality of the West Valley and for the entire region. MAG has developed an integrated regional system of freeways, roads and transit that has set the national standard for quality and efficiency,” Orsborn said.
MAG is the regional planning agency made up of 27 cities and towns, three Native nations, Maricopa County, portions of Pinal County and the Arizona Department of Transportation. It has led the implementation of Maricopa County's half-cent sales tax for transportation construction and maintenance for nearly 40 years.
