A suspect has been arrested after police received a report Sunday of a man at a home in the 700 block of North Tangerine Drive who said he had explosives inside the house, Chandler police said.

Officers responded to the report about 3:15 p.m. Sept. 1 and evacuated homes on the street as Chandler SWAT and Mesa Police Department’s bomb squad responded.

The man surrendered to police and is in custody, police said.

Residents in the neighborhood were allowed to return to their homes about 10 p.m.

A Chandler Police Department spokesman stated in a release he was not aware of any suspicious items or explosive materials being found at the home.

The suspect’s name and charges may not be released until Tuesday, police said.
