Body recovery underway after trench collapse in west Phoenix

Posted

Phoenix firefighters said crews were trying to recover the bodies of two construction workers after a trench collapse north of Camelback Ranch-Glendale.

Capt. Rob McDade said the incident happened Thursday afternoon at a housing construction site in the area of Missouri and 107th avenues, directly north of the Spring Training stadium and east of the Glendale Recharge Ponds.

Officials confirmed two workers were buried as a result of the collapse.

Mr. McDade said technical rescue teams were working on a “long process” of body recovery.

Phoenix police said they are investigating along with the fire department. Roadways in the area were not affected.

No other details were released.
