Avondale man accused of shooting neighbor inside garage

An Avondale man is in jail on a $500,000 after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbor inside of a garage.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday, when the Avondale Police Department responded to a residence south of Lower Buckeye Road, just east of the Agua Fria River, for a shots fired call.

Upon arrival, officers located the homeowner, Ramon Oseguera, in the garage with gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Records show he had at least eight gunshot wounds. Officers located six .40 Caliber shell casings at the scene.
Police learned that Mr. Oseguera had a disagreement with his neighbor Ruben Alvarez.
According to records, Mr. Oseguera had woken up in the morning to prepare to drive out of state to attend a funeral. His wife told police she was in bed when she heard a loud noise in the garage.
She went downstairs and partially opened an access door leading to the garage. She saw her husband near his vehicle and Mr. Alvarez cursing at someone on the phone.
Mr. Alvarez then threw the phone on the ground. Mr. Oseguera’s wife reported hearing her husband tell Mr. Alvarez “I’m your friend.”
She closed the door and walked away before hearing several loud pops, records show. She returned to the garage and found her husband on the ground and bleeding.
She and a witness reported seeing Mr. Alvarez’s truck leave the area. Officers also found two firearms in Mr. Alvarez’s home, including a .40 Caliber, along with gun holsters and ammunition.
Police identified Mr. Alvarez as the suspect, and with the assistance of the Phoenix Police Department, located him in the area of 17th Avenue and Chanute Pass in Phoenix.
Records show he was leaving a house where his children lived. Police pulled over a vehicle driven by Mr. Alvarez’s girlfriend and took Mr. Alvarez into custody.
Mr. Alvarez told police he left his home to drive to his children’s house in Phoenix. He had parked outside until they woke up.
He told detectives he was being accused of murder and requested an attorney.
Mr. Alvarez was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail with court dates scheduled April 23 and 26.
