Advent Church announces concert series

Dan Reed, Jim Whitaker and Nicole Pesce will open the 2023-24 concert series at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive, with a free community event 1 p.m. Sunday Sept. 3. 

Reed began playing trumpet at the age of nine. He has performed in the United States and Canada and with both Carnival and Princess Cruise Lines. He moved to Phoenix in 2011 and has played as the featured musician in many bands.

Whitaker is a pianist, bassist and vocalist. He most enjoys playing Dixieland and Jazz standards.

Pesce is a pianist, keyboardist, composer and arranger. She has performed in Phoenix for many years as well as nationwide and overseas.

The concert series will later feature Richard Palalay and Company on Sunday, Oct. 1, Colour Blinde on Sunday, Nov. 5, The Phoenician Tenors on Sunday, Dec. 3, The Many Sounds of 9 on Sunday, Jan. 7, The Sahnas Brothers with Suzanne Lansford on Sunday, Feb. 4, The Salty Dawgs and Friends on Sunday, March 3, Desert Winds Steel Orchestra on Sunday, April 7 and The Many Sounds of 9 on Sunday, May 5.

Tickets for the December performance will be $10 each. The other concerts will accept a free will offering. All concerts begin at 1 p.m.
