ADHS: Peoria area ZIP codes have 25,400 cases


Arizona Department of Health Services reported 460 new coronavirus cases and 14 new deaths Thursday, for a total of 851,725 cases and 17,123 deaths.

In the Peoria area, cases are at 25,400 compared with 25,283 this time a week ago, a difference of 117, according to Arizona Department of Health Services.

Over 90% of cases were mapped to the address of the patient's residence. If the patient's address was unknown the case was mapped to the address of the provider followed by the address of the reporting facility.

The city is partnering with Embry Health to offer free COVID-19 testing. Anyone can be tested, whether they are displaying symptoms or not. Tests are conducted with individuals in their cars and through nasal swabs. To book an appointment, visit or call 480-376-2170, drive-ins are accepted.

The following Peoria locations will have testing available:
• Pioneer Community Park, 8755 N. 83rd Ave.: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
• Sunrise Mountain Library, 21109 N. 98th Ave.: Sunday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
• Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave.: Sunday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m.

The coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough for most people. The vast majority of people who are diagnosed with COVID-19 recover.

But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness including pneumonia, and death.
