Two stabbings occured less than a mile apart in a southwest Glendale neighborhood over the weekend.

At about 8:25 a.m. Friday, March 15, Glendale Police received a call of a reported stabbing at a home near 6700 West Discovery Drive.  Patrol officers arrived and discovered in the garage of the home, a male with serious life-threatening injuries consistent with being stabbed.

Officers performed life saving measures until the Glendale Fire Department arrived.  The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The victim was identified as 18-year-old Daniel James Santiago.

The person calling provided a description of the male suspect, and said he ran away eastbound from the area on foot.  Additional patrol units and detectives arrived to assist, and swiftly located the suspect.

Police established a perimeter to contain the suspect who was safely taken into custody.  He was identified as 20-year-old, Robert Leo Williams.

Williams was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail under booking number, G085618, and has been charged with second degree murder.

At about 9:24 p.m. Saturday, March 16 Glendale Police received a call of a reported stabbing at an apartment near 6500 West Ocotillo Road.

Patrol officers arrived and discovered a 49-year-old male victim with life threatening injuries consistent with being stabbed.  The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patrol officers learned an altercation had taken place between the victim and the suspect, which escalated into the stabbing.  The relationship between them both is unknown.  The suspect was identified shortly after patrol officers had arrived and was eventually taken into custody.

The lead detective has asked for the names of the victim and suspect to not be released yet.  This investigation is ongoing, and updates will be made once the detective authorizes for any additional information to be released.
