Shea Homes breaks ground on new northeast Scottsdale community

Prelude at Storyrock, a new single-family home community in northeast Scottsdale by Shea Homes, has broken ground.

The neighborhood is made up of 51 homesites across approximately 35 acres of land, according to a press release. Prelude at Storyrock features single level homes ranging from 2,845 to 3,963 square feet.

In northeast Scottsdale, at the intersection of 128th Street and Ranch Gate Road, this new community of single-family detached homes is surrounded by more than 30,000+ acres of protected desert habitat.

The community sits next to more than 150 miles of trails to be explored on foot or bike.

Bordered by the McDowell Sonoran Preserve on three sides, Shea Homes’ residents will be surrounded by the largest urban preserve in the United States.

On a total of 462 acres, the Storyrock master plan will encompass a total of 443 homes, developed by Shea and other select homebuilders. All homesites are specially-designed to minimize impact to the land –-- allowing for 50% of the community’s acreage to remain dedicated to natural area open space and wildlife corridors, the press release stated.

With the groundbreaking of Shea’s model homes underway, sales are expected to start fall 2020.

“This is our first new community in the north Scottsdale area in well over a decade, and we’re looking forward to welcoming new homeowners to the area,” said Ken Peterson, VP of sales and marketing for Shea Homes Arizona, in a prepared statement. “The setting is spectacular, and as you drive into this community, the desert location brings a sense of calm, yet the conveniences of city life are close by.”
