Fine art photographer Tim H. Murphy announces his latest photography presentation in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Titled “Ireland: Through the Lens of a Fine Art Photographer,” the presentation will be 3 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Legacy Village of Salt River, 8170 N. 90th St.

This specially curated presentation shares the photographer’s images from Ireland taken over four different trips to the country and includes his photographs of dramatic landscapes and Irish churches. This presentation will be narrated by the artist and include his personal stories about capturing these images. He will also take questions from the audience.

There are limited tickets available, and attendees must register for this free event by contacting the artist at timhmurphy@me.com or visiting timhmurphy.com.

Murphy and his wife, Debbie, have lived in Arizona for the past twenty-eight years, where he had a successful career with American Express in global sales leadership. In 2000, he was inducted into their Worldwide Hall of Fame, which is their highest level of employee recognition. He retired eleven years ago and thought his retirement years would be filled with golfing in Arizona and Ireland, road biking and other outdoor pursuits.

Those plans had to be put aside when he developed a rare neurological disorder that affected his balance and mobility, dramatically changing the direction of his life. To fill the void in his life, Murphy’s wife suggested he revisit a previous interest he had in photography. He pursued photography and it turned out to be one of the most fulfilling pivots he could make in his life. He began taking his camera with him everywhere he went.

Fast forward 11 years later and Murphy has achieved success with his photography. He focuses on two divergent shooting locations: the American Southwest and Ireland. His work has been featured in exhibits and published in nine photography books, including two on Ireland, “Three Summers in Ireland” and “Irish Churches.” Other books feature his photography of Southwest subjects. In 2022, Murphy received national recognition for his photography promoting Ireland by the Irish Echo, a U.S. publication geared to the American Irish population, when they honored him with their Community Champion Award.

“Despite being mobility challenged, I go to great lengths to create compelling and unique images. I have navigated castle towers, lighthouses, and centuries-old abbeys. I’ve risen in the wee hours to photograph the moon and even chartered a fishing boat to snap a unique Irish castle, all while bobbing about in the North Atlantic Ocean!” said Murphy.

Although Murphy’s relationship with photography came about as the result of a physical disability 11 years ago, it has also offered him an opportunity to experience, capture, and present his world from a new perspective.

His presentation at Legacy Village will include new photographs of Irish landscapes, seascapes, castles and ancient abbeys. The artist will have books available at the presentation for sale.
