Desert Hills Presbyterian Church presents the Merz Trio

Desert Hills Presbyterian Church presents the next concert in its Arts at the Rocks performing arts series, as it welcomes the acclaimed Merz Trio to the stage on Saturday, March 23 at 4 p.m.

This award-winning group promises an inspiring classical performance. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the church’s sanctuary, 34605 N. Tom Darlington Road, in Scottsdale, according to a press release.

Consisting of violinist Brigid Coleridge, cellist Julia Yang and pianist Amy Yang, the Merz Trio has established itself at the forefront of the U.S. chamber music scene. The group is known for its passionate playing and uniquely artistic programming style, interspersing classic trio works with interdisciplinary elements and their own arrangements. The Merz Trio made debuts in the 2022-2023 season at Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, among others. Recent awards include top prizes at the 2021 Naumburg, 2019 Concert Artists Guild, 2019 Fischoff and 2018 Chesapeake competitions.

The Trio is passionately committed to reshaping the narrative of classical music, with a programming style that juxtaposes classical standards, new music and the group’s own arrangements of familiar and forgotten works. To learn more, visit https://deserthills.org/arts-at-the-rocks/.
