Motorcyclist dies following north Valley collision

An investigation is underway after a 21-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by another vehicle, Phoenix police said.

The crash occurred shortly after noon April 9 near 51st and Grovers avenues.

Preliminary information suggests the motorcyclist, Kyle Farrell, failed to stop for a red light as he was headed north on 51st Avenue. He was hit by the other vehicle as it traveled through the intersection at Grovers Avenue, police said.

Farrell was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, according to a release.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said.
