Green: No more Biden; more Kelly!

Posted

One of the biggest developments of our state in the past few years is the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. campus in north Phoenix that will be home to thousands of jobs and supply our country with the microchip production that has been sorely lacking in our nation.

I know Sen. Kelly worked hard on the CHIPS Act that helped bring TSMC here, so I hope he continues to work with the technology and manufacturing industries in opposing the Biden administration’s attempt to dramatically change the Bayh-Dole Act.

This act allowed for inventions made during federally funded research (such as certain microchips) to be licensed or sold to private institutions such as start-ups or small businesses.

The act is an overwhelming success. Everyone agrees on that no matter what side of the aisle you are on. What is troubling is the Biden administration trying to use the act to impose price controls on the inventions.

Price controls do nothing but hamper new inventions and technologies, which is why university presidents, tech companies and manufacturing industries are all united in opposing this.

I hope Sen. Kelly steps up again and protects these industries by opposing these changes to the Bayh-Dole Act.
