Eastbound I-10 partially reopens at Gila River Bridge

Full closure Tuesday night early Wednesday for repairs: ADOT

One lane of eastbound Interstate 10 has reopened at the Gila River Bridge as crews continue to make repairs to the bridge’s concrete deck, state transportation officials said Tuesday morning.

Earlidf Tuesday morning, eastbound lanes were closed when law enforcement reported that an area of the eastbound I-10 Gila River Bridge's concrete deck had worn through to the underlying rebar, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT staff, in consultation with bridge engineers, have determined that the bridge is safe for travel, officials said.

One eastbound lane will remain open until a full closure of eastbound I-10 goes into place Tuesday night so that repairs can be made.

Both eastbound lanes will be closed from 10 tonight to 6 a.m. Wednesday. One lane will reopen Wednesday morning because the concrete that will be used to make repairs requires additional time to cure, transportation officials said.

The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph.
