Arizona Foundation for Women celebrated 25 years at its Silver Soirée on March 17, where supporters displayed support for the foundation’s mission by raising over $330,000.
The Silver Soirée is AFW’s premier awareness and fundraising event, according to a press release.
Funds raised support AFW’s programs and services that address the safety, health and economic empowerment of women in Arizona, the release states.
The event, held at Chateau Luxe, featured the presentation of the Sandra Day O’Connor Lifetime Achievement Award to “Queen of Percussion” Sheila E. Local activists Debbie Nez-Manuel and Dr. Candace Lew received the Voice of Women and Marilyn R. Seymann awards, respectively, in recognition of their work supporting the safety and health of women in Arizona.
Silver Soirée co-chairs Juliet Burgess and Brooke Levy, alongside honorary chair Billie Jo Herberger, assembled a powerful group of dedicated individuals and brought the silver anniversary vision to life.
Local media personality Carey Peña presided as emcee for the evening and auctioneer Letitia Frye garnered over $80,000 during the live ask portion of the event.
Ballroom dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Paradise Valley performed three numbers dedicated to Sandra Day O’Connor and Sheila E.
