The Prom Closet provides free attire for those attending homecoming

Posted

The Prom Closet, an annual event hosted by the Peoria North Rotary Club to provide free attire for those attending their spring proms, will be hosting its first-ever homecoming event on Sept. 7.

Dresses -- specifically short dresses  popular for homecoming events -- will be provided free of charge to any high school student. The event takes place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Glendale Elementary School District System of Care Campus, 7677 W. Bethany Home Road.

Rotarians from several West Valley Rotary clubs will be on hand to assist those looking for a dress. All dresses have been donated to The Prom Closet.

Due to an overabundance of short dresses, which are more suitable for homecoming dances, organizers have opted to hold their first-ever short-dress homecoming event.

There is no charge for students and pre-registration is not required.

Rotary is an international organization with over 1.4 million members. Rotarians worldwide take part in service projects that impact their communities and focus primarily on promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting local education and growing local businesses.
