Peoria Unified governing board approves appointments of new administrators

Peoria Unified governing board approves appointments of new administrators

Peoria Unified welcomes back a district graduate as the director of accounting, and several other administrators who are taking on new roles in the 2024-25 school year.

Amanda Jenkins will serve as the new principal at Apache Elementary School. Jenkins has been serving as the assistant principal at Apache Elementary since 2021. Jenkins began her teaching career in 2002 at Peoria High School. She served Peoria High School from 2002 to 2021. She also held a position as adjunct English teacher at Glendale Community College since 2010. She will be taking over for Mr. Darien Schoolcraft, who has accepted a new administrator role within Peoria Unified at the high school level.

Greg Kaatz will be ew principal at Sunset Heights Elementary School. Kaatz joined Peoria Unified in 2022 when he and his family moved to Arizona from Oregon. Since that time, he has served as the assistant principal at Cheyenne Elementary School. Before his tenure in Peoria Unified, Kaatz spent nine years in Oregon as an assistant principal at a middle school and an assistant principal and athletic director at a high school. Kaatz has also served as a special education teacher, a physical education and health teacher from 1999 to 2008. He will take over for Rae Connelley, who will retire at the end of the 2023-24 school year.

Christina Klink will serve as principal at Desert Valley Elementary School. She has been supporting Desert Valley Elementary School as interim principal since November 2023 and will begin her new role effective July 1, 2024. Klink has been with the Peoria Unified School District since 2014. Before her current appointment, she was assistant principal at Santa Fe Elementary School. She has also held the role of Title I math coach and 8th-grade math teacher at Alta Loma Elementary School. She will take over for Mrs. Erin Gonzalez, who supports schools as a district level administrator.

Reginna Lewis will serve as the principal at Ira A. Murphy Elementary School beginning in the 2024-25 school year. She is assistant principal at Ironwood High School, where she has been since 2018. Before her role at Ironwood, Lewis was an instructional coach for two years. She joined Peoria Unified in 2007 and taught reading and social studies in multiple grade levels at Copperwood Elementary School. Lewis served in the United States Air Force as the 944th Fighter Wing/Medical Squadron Education and Training Manager from 1994 to 2014. During her tenure in the United States Air Force, Lewis was responsible for the oversight and management of the education and training program for over 130 medical personnel. Lewis will be taking over for Mr. Wallander who will be taking on a new role in the Peoria Unified School District.

Chad Scheid, a graduate from Peoria Unified, will take on the new role of Director of Accounting within Peoria Unified’s Business Services Department. Scheid comes to Peoria Unified from the business sector, bringing a vast amount of knowledge and expertise to the accounting department. His current duties include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax filing, and month-end processes. Scheid previously attended Sahuaro Ranch Elementary School and graduated from Ironwood High School.
