Peoria looks to add to street sweeping fleet

The city of Peoria is looking to add three street sweeping trucks to its fleet through a Maricopa Association of Governments grant.

Council approved an amendment to an existing intergovernmental agreement with the state of Arizona to facilitate procurement of three Maricopa Association of Governments grant-funded street sweepers.

The total cost for the three sweepers is estimated to be about $950,000. The MAG grant will be paid to the city as reimbursement in a total amount not to exceed $845,949. The city of Peoria total contribution is estimated to be $105,000 for all three street sweepers.

In 2019, the city of Peoria was successful in az application to MAG for a grant to purchase one street sweeper to replace an existing sweeper in the fleet. Due to the strict requirements for procurement with federal funds, Peoria entered into an agreement with the state of Arizona to procure the sweeper through a cooperative-buy contract.

However, prior to completion of that procurement, the city was advised that fiscal year 2020 applications for a second replacement sweeper and an expansion sweeper were also granted.

As a result, the recent amendment was needed to facilitate the procurement of all three street sweepers with MAG grant funds through the cooperative-buy contract.
