Posted

Peoria youths are invited to participate in the Maricopa County summer reading program.

Young readers may visit community partners throughout the city to earn secret codes to unlock badges and points toward prizes in the summer reading program. Type the secret code into your account at MaricopaCountyReads.org.

Youths can also say “read the news” to library staff at the front desk at either Peoria Public Library location to earn a special prize.

Secret codes are hiding inside the following businesses:

  • Culver’s - 8271 W. Ludlow Drive
  • Raising Cane’s - 7930 W. Bell Road or 25300 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway
  • Chick-fil-A - 16657 N. 83rd Ave.
  • Bobazona - 16055 N. Arrowhead Fountains Center Drive
  • TheaterWorks - 10580 N. 83rd Drive
  • Rio Vista Community Center - 8866 N. Thunderbird Road
  • Bikers Edge - 10545 N. 83rd Ave.
  • Driftwood Coffee Co. - 8295 W. Jefferson St.
  • Peoria Community Center - 8335 W. Jefferson St.

The Peoria Public Library system is one of 65 libraries taking part in the Maricopa County summer reading program. Readers earn prizes awarded based on the number of points earned, with options including a free book for personal use or donation to a local Head Start classroom.

The program ends Aug. 1.
