Free meals to extend this year at Peoria Unified

Posted

Thanks to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Peoria Unified School District will be able to provide breakfast and lunch meals free to any child, age 18 and under through June 2022.

Students attending class in person can receive free breakfast and lunch during normal mealtimes throughout the 2021-22 school year. Second meals will be available for purchase but are not free.

Details on free meals, as well as breakfast and lunch menu items are on the district’s website at www.peoriaunified.org/breakfastandlunch.

Peoria Unified will work with individual families who still need meals whose children attend the eCampus Virtual School this year.

Although breakfast and lunch meals are free during the 2021-22 school year, Peoria Unified encourages families to apply for free and reduced meals, as it helps plan accordingly for the following school year and may make families eligible for discounts and waivers for things outside of school.

Families must apply for the 2021-22 school year for free or reduced meals in order to receive additional funing through the pEBT program if the program is extended. Details on how families can apply for free and reduced lunch are available on Peoria Unified’s website.
