Musical about Carole King’s life, legacy to round out upcoming season

Arizona Broadway Theatre, in Peoria, announces the seventh show of its 20th season.

Previously unannounced, “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical” will round out the milestone collection. The award-winning musical is the fifth show in the upcoming seven-show lineup.

“Carole King’s iconic songbook and personal journey are depicted in an incredible manner in this heart-warming and heart-wrenching story,” Kurtis Overby, Arizona Broadway Theatre artistic director, shared in a press release. “Every song in the show echoes her ups and downs, trials and successes, and most importantly, her love for life.”

In addition to “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical,” the theatre season includes seven shows ranging from classics like “Hello, Dolly!” and family favorites like “Beauty and the Beast” to award-winning musicals like “Million Dollar Quartet.” The season also includes the regional premiere of “Tootsie.”

The 2024-25 season at Arizona Broadway Theatre includes:

“Million Dollar Quartet”: Oct. 4-Nov. 2

The show brings Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley together for an tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations. Audiences will relive the era with the 2010 Tony Award nominated musical.

Beauty & the Beast”: Nov. 15-Dec. 29

The revered fairy-tale includes expansive sets, crafted costumes, a large chorus, and more. Belle finds herself in the middle of a daring adventure, attempting to rescue her beloved father from a terrible Beast by offering herself in exchange for his freedom.

“Hello, Dolly!”: Jan. 17-Feb. 21, 2025

One of America’s finest pieces of musical theatre, the show includes “Before the Parade Passes By,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” and the title smash hit.

“Phantom”: March 7-April 10, 2025

“Yeston and Arthur Kopit’s Phantom” is a musical adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s famous novel “The Phantom of the Opera.” The musical follows the plot written by Leroux and provides deeper insight into every character, their motivations, and their backstories.

“Beautiful, the Carole King Musical”: April 25-June 5, 2025

A Broadway jukebox musical that tells the inspiring story of singer-songwriter Carole King’s rise to fame. The story follows her life from a young aspiring songwriter in Brooklyn to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in history.

“Cinderella”: June 20-July 26, 2025

“Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella” puts a new spin on the beloved fairytale with timeless themes of kindness, love and the power of dreams. The story follows Ella, a young woman who lost her father and lives as a servant to her wickedly cruel stepmother and stepsisters.

“Tootsie”: Aug. 8-Sept. 13, 2025

A talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work due to his reputation finds himself willing to go above and beyond to land a role... even if it means disguising himself as a woman. To his surprise, he lands the role in a popular soap opera.
