TurfMutt Foundation gives tips to de-stress outside, responsibe social distancing

The TurfMutt Foundation wants to remind families to take advantage of nature outside and enjoy the benefits of green space to get a break from “being cooped up inside and relieve the stresses of these times.”

People are encouraged to listen to the birds, look at trees, work outside planting, or even mow the lawn in efforts to get outside, according to a press release, noting to de-stress outdoors while social distancing and being responsible.

Tips to get outside: de-stress outdoors even while social distancing and being responsible include:

  • Observe local "stay at home" orders.
  • Keep at least 6 feet away from people you do not live with.
  • Do not gather in large groups
  • Wear a face mask in public.
  • Exercise; throw a ball to your dog; go for a short walk.
  • Use your “outdoor living room” to connect with immediate family.
  • Keep kids engaged while school is closed by going on a nature hunt.
  • Unwind by finding solace, sitting and listening to nature.
    Plant something or mow the yard; trim a bush or tree.

People are encouraged to use use community green space responsibly, the release said, adding that “your yard is your safe space.
