Catholic Community Foundation awards $323,000 in tuition assistance scholarships

Posted

The Catholic Community Foundation has announced the award of $323,000 in tuition assistance scholarships for the 2020 fiscal year.

The scholarships were awarded to 19 seventh-grade students from 10 Catholic elementary schools within the Diocese of Phoenix, providing financial support to many Diocesan families striving to have their children attend Catholic high school.

Karen Abraham, the Catholic Community Foundation’s board of directors chair, says helping children financially to receive Catholic education is central to CCF’s mission.

“These tuition assistance scholarships have a significant impact generationally on deserving students. The focus of CCF is on building endowments to ensure we can help families afford a Catholic education long into the future,” Ms. Abraham said in a prepared statement.

Program benefits

The CCF Tuition Assistance Scholarship Program provides a grant of $17,000 per student.

Each student receives $1,000 applied to Catholic school tuition for their eighth-grade year and $4,000 in tuition funding each year during the student’s four years of Catholic high school.

“As a mother of four children, I thought that a Catholic high school experience was beyond our means,” said Sarah A., mom of Christian, a 2020 CCF Tuition Assistance Scholarship recipient.

“When our elementary school principal told us about an amazing opportunity through the Catholic Community Foundation, we applied. We were thrilled to be notified that a scholarship was awarded. Thanks to this amazing opportunity, my son will be able to receive a faith-informed, high-quality education during some of the most important formative years of his life.”

$323,000 in tuition assistance for long-term community impact

The Catholic Community Foundation Tuition Assistance Scholarship Program is supported by a CCF managed endowment called the Education Forever Fund.

The CCF Education Forever Fund endowment is designed to support students of the Catholic faith by granting scholarships for Catholic education from the endowment’s investment return. The CCF Tuition Assistance Scholarship Program aims to award a $17,000 scholarship to 20 students every year, the press release stated.

The collective need to reach the program goal is $340,000 annually. By contributing to the Education Forever Fund endowment, donors can help CCF grant the gift of Catholic education year after year.
