Steinberg: Student art on display starting Feb. 22

Posted

It has been my pleasure to serve as a member of the PV Arts Board since 2017. The Board strives to create and sustain a cultural and artistic environment which encourages local artists, collectors and gallery owners to participate in educational and exhibition projects within the town. We are constantly seeking innovative approaches to further community engagement. Art serves as a natural vehicle to bring people together.

During my time on the board, we have primarily focused on two distinct and wonderful events. The Artist-in-Residence Program, currently featuring photographer Dr. Larry Brecker, is on display now through September at Town Hall. This body of work shows Dr. Brecker’s evolution and transition through various photographic techniques over the last 20 years. His interpretation of a variety of botanical subject matter is stunning and inspiring.

The board also facilitates an exhibit every year featuring student work from a school in our town. This year, for the first time, we are featuring the work of preschool students. On Feb. 22, we will be hosting an opening featuring the artwork of the Temple Soleil Preschool students, led by their director, Linda Irish. The artwork will be on display in the Community Room in Town Hall through March. Please stop by to enjoy these exciting examples of the vast array of creativity and talent in our midst.
