Gateway Celebrity Fight Night 30th Anniversary Emerald Ball is set for Saturday, April 27 at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The star-studded evening of giving will deliver a knock-out blow to cancer, with 100% of event proceeds directly funding early-phase, innovative cancer research.

The gala is hosted by Dr. Stacie J. Stephenson and Mr. Richard J Stephenson, founders and chairs of Gateway for Cancer Research and residents of Paradise Valley.

This year’s attendees include Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter and actor Michael Bublé as the headliner, NSYNC member Joey Fatone as emcee, with musical direction by 16-time Grammy-award winner David Foster, according to a press release.

There will also be appearances by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, singer-songwriters Katharine McPhee and Rachel Platten, TV host and personality Lawrence Zarian, comedian and celebrity auctioneer Caroline Rhea, and more.

Guests will be presented with the incredible work of Dr. Yoshie Umemura, division chief of neurooncology at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, a program of Barrow Neurological, according to the release. Dr. Umemura is conducting a trial on glioblastoma, one of the most deadly and treatment-resistant cancers that has a five-year survival rate of 6.9%. There are no current FDA-approved treatments that have succeeded in significantly extending patients’ lives beyond a few months, and many treatments are harsh on the patient.

Dr. Umemura and her co-principal investigators at the University of Michigan are evaluating whether a new combination of treatments are safe and can ultimately allow patients to experience an increase in overall survival, delivering on Gateway’s objective to give patients more time.

Nearly 5,370 people are diagnosed with cancer in the United States every day which is why Gateway for Cancer Research has invested more than $114 million to advance over 234 clinical cancer trials at esteemed research institutions around the world, delivering hope and healing to more than 10,000 cancer patients and their families, the release stated.
