Stanton: Announcing my candidacy for mayor

Posted

My decision to seek the office of mayor is rooted in my love for the town and belief in public service focusing on protecting the future of Paradise Valley for the generations ahead.

My life is centered in PV; I was blessed to grow up in the town, and now my wife and I are raising our two children in my childhood home. I am proud of my record as vice mayor and council member and, if elected, I will bring that passion and experience as mayor to our town.

Paradise Valley was founded on limited government, offering high-quality customer service for residents, surrounded by world-class resorts and unparalleled natural beauty. I am committed to four pillars of public service: public safety, fiscal sustainability, quality of life and customer service.

In 2014, 2016 and 2020, I was elected to Town Council. While serving on council, I have twice been unanimously elected by my peers as vice mayor. In that role, I serve as council liaison to the Planning Commission, Advisory Committee on Public Safety (ACOPS) and the HOA Forum. I have also served as liaison to the Experience Scottsdale Board of Directors, Historical Committee and PV Arts Board. I am an advocate for public safety, conservative fiscal policies, transparency and quality of life initiatives.

A believer in genuine collaboration, I have used my leadership skills to help unify and support the talents of my fellow council members. Together, the council has fought successfully against unregulated short-term rentals, protected local government control, supported photo radar, maintained limited government and preserved our residential community.

Professionally, I have built a successful career in the private and public sectors. As a public servant, I served as chief of staff for the Maricopa County Board Supervisors – District 3 (Paradise Valley and North Phoenix). I was honored to be appointed by the governor to be deputy director for the Arizona Office of Tourism. In that role, I led Arizona's national and international marketing and economic development initiatives promoting tourism, an industry that is the foundation of Paradise Valley and a key pillar for our town’s financial success.

I am the only candidate for mayor who has served as a leader in local, county and state government. I have unparalleled experience, insight and connectivity that are valuable commodities in representing the town.

Currently, I proudly serve as president and CEO of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, an independent 501c-3, non-governmental organization. The Chamber is a member-based economic development organization founded in 1947 that promotes the world-class brand of our region by supporting businesses and helping create jobs.

I have served as past chairperson/member on the State of Arizona Personnel Board, graduated from Scottsdale Leadership and am a Life Member and past president of the Scottsdale Charros. I earned a B.A. degree from the University of Denver.

It would be my honor to serve my fellow residents as mayor for our town. Visit stanton4pv.com or email me at stanton@stanton4pv.com.
