The territories of Mesa law enforcement patrol precinct and fire and medical dispatch areas are to decrease with the addition of a dual fire-police facility to be built on 8 acres near Power and Brown roads.
The complex, to be operational in 2024, is proposed to meet the increasing fire, medical and police public safety needs of the area. It would alleviate some workload of the Superstition Patrol Division, 2430 S. Ellsworth Road, which covers more than 72 square miles; and the Red Mountain Police Division, 4333 E. University Drive, which patrols more than 38 square miles.
“The new public safety facility in northeast Mesa allows for better resource allocation. It will cut the geographical space of the Superstition and Red Mountain police divisions while also allowing to balance call volume and response times for the five surrounding Mesa Fire and Medical (Department) stations,” District 5 Councilman David Luna said.
