The Litchfield Park City Council unanimously approved a staff recommendation to distribute $17,500 from the city’s general fund to 12 local nonprofits when it met in regular session Wednesday, May 20.
The city sets aside money for annual appropriations to non-profit agencies that provide a public service/benefit to the community. In 2019, the council awarded $17,500 to 15 applicants, according to a staff report.
This year,14 agencies applied for funds, requesting a total of $39,575. The council discussed applications during a special meeting May 13, then sent their individual funding recommendations to City Manager Bill Stephens. Appropriation amounts were determined by averaging councilmembers’ suggested contributions.
Agencies to receive 2020 appropriations include:
Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank, $3,000;
Avondale Senior Center, $1,700;
Blue Star Moms Arizona – Southwest Valley, $1,500;
