Meals of Joy, a Litchfield Park nonprofit focused on delivering meals to seniors, has been awarded a $2,500 grant through Buckeye’s Nonprofit Community Funding Program.

The funding coincides with the organization’s 10-year-anniversary and its plan to deliver an estimated 40,000 meals to seniors in the upcoming year. Operating across the West Valley, Meals of Joy provides door-to-door meal service, ensuring meals are delivered hot and ready while offering social interaction to seniors.

Meals of Joy partners with local churches, hospitals and health clinics to enhance its outreach and relies on volunteers who deliver meals five days a week, ensuring no senior is turned away based on financial circumstances.

The grant is part of a larger initiative by the Buckeye City Council, which approved a total of $95,000 in funding for 12 nonprofits in the area as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Nonprofit Community Funding Program.

A total of 17 grant applications were submitted, with funding allocated to various organizations addressing community needs.

Other recipients include All Faith Community Services, which received $30,000 for emergency food assistance; the Buckeye Police Foundation, awarded $15,000 for crime prevention and support for victims; and Mirna’s Place, receiving $13,000 for facility renovations.

The funding received by Meals of Joy will support its mission to provide nutritious meals to seniors facing medical conditions or financial challenges.
