Litchfield Park closes Desert Ave.

Posted

Desert Ave. between Wigwam and Honeysuckle will be closed in both directions on Sept. 10 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the installation of the final layer of pavement. Access to City Hall and nearby restaurant parking lots will remain available from Wigwam, and Honeysuckle will stay open.

The closure is part of the Litchfield Square area that  is anticipated to house spaces for large gatherings, shopping, dining, parking and residential use and is an ongoing development of 26-acres of land.

Construction on the Litchfield Square infrastructure began in July 2021 and has included setting up water, sewer, storm drains, electrical, telecommunications, and gas systems. Recent work includes street improvements around the park, extending Village Parkway, and reconstructing Honeysuckle Street. The next phase of work will complete the park and connect the streets to Wigwam Boulevard.

Full infrastructure completion is anticipated by December 2024.

Landscaping and other surface improvements for Village Parkway east of Litchfield Road are in progress, featuring various trees and color-changing lights. Village Parkway will be restricted to construction traffic only until the development of Lot 3 is near completion and businesses begin to open.
