Goodyear’s initial results to place three city council members are in.
According to the Maricopa County Elections Department, the six candidates campaigning for the roles are being led by Trey Terry, Laura Kaino and Benita Beckles respectively.
Results posted at 1:15 a.m. July 31 show Terry polling at 21.65% with 8,117 votes, Kaino holding 20.56% with 7,706 votes and Beckles at 17.42% with 6,530 votes.
Teri Roberts is polling in fourth place with 16.69%, followed by Tamary Floyd at 12.83% and Angie Amarillas sitting at 10.85%
Three of the nominees will be elected to council for four-year terms. They will be responsible for passing citywide ordinances, addressing community concerns and overseeing projects. Council members guide local policy and the operations of municipal services.
These preliminary results are only counting mail in ballots and votes made in person will continue to be counted and verified.
