Riders can grab a helmet and get ready for fun outdoors at the 27th Annual Glendale Family Bike Ride from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 14 at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave.

Those interested can register today for this free event that is open to bicyclists of all ages and skill levels. Riders can choose from three routes: short (seven miles), long (15 miles) and extended (23 miles) through scenic bike pathways, trails, parks and bridges in the park around Historic Sahuaro Ranch.

Bicyclists can refuel with snacks and water at Marshall Ranch and Legend Springs elementary schools and Sunset Vista Park.

Glendale Police Department and SWAT team vehicles and drones will entertain with demonstrations and Valley Metro will show off its fleet of modern buses. Health and wellness vendors and exhibitors will offer diverse items while participants can play carnival games and jump on inflatables as a DJ spins tunes.

Mayor Jerry Weiers will kick off each group ride. The first 500 people who register and show up to the bike ride will receive a free T-shirt and everyone who completes a route will be rewarded with a participation medal.

All participants will have the opportunity to win a bike raffle and obtain free helmets and fittings, as well as to obtain bicycle safety information.
