Abrazo Arrowhead in Glendale earns high ranking among Arizona hospitals

U.S. News & World Report lists campus in Top 5

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus in Glendale is among the Top 5 hospitals in Arizona in the 2022-2023 Best Hospitals released by U.S. News & World Report.

The Glendale campus is located at 18701 N. 67th Ave. Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, on Thomas Road in Phoenix, also earned a Top 5 ranking.

Results were generated by evaluating data in a variety of medical specialties and procedures for nearly 5,000 hospitals across the U.S. Evaluation of Abrazo Arrowhead Campus includes data from Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, resulting in High Performing ratings in eight adult procedures and conditions: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Kidney Failure, Stroke, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (CPOD) and Pneumonia.

Ratings in procedures and conditions focus on typical Medicare patients among other criteria. An overall rating of high performing indicates a hospital was significantly better than the national average in a given procedure or condition, according to U.S. News.

“We are excited that U.S. News continues to recognize the quality medicine and advanced procedures provided at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital,” Abrazo Arrowhead Campus CEO Stephen Garner shared in a statement. “As a community hospital with deep roots in the Valley, we strive to be at the forefront of bringing medical advances to our patients.”

Serving Glendale and the Northwest Valley since 1988, Abrazo Arrowhead is known for its surgical services, cardiovascular care, orthopedics, women’s and other services. It is also a destination for maternity care, including a Level IIIA neonatal care unit for high-risk patients and high order multiple births.

Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix was founded in 1998 as the first hospital solely dedicated to cardiovascular care. It has a history of treating some of the most complex heart and vascular conditions, and has brought advances in heart valve replacement, electrophysiology and other treatments for Arizona patients.

Its medical leadership continues through introduction of new procedures and research. Earlier this year it became the first hospital in Arizona to commercially offer the Amulet procedure for treating Afib, and most recently began offering the new Evolut FX TAVR System Implant.

U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures from data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists. The Procedures & Conditions ratings are based entirely on objective patient care measures.
