Gilbert Fire and Rescue holding car-seat clinic

Posted

The Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department is hosting a clinic Thursday, Aug. 4, to teach residents the proper installation of car seats.

The clinic will be held by appointment between 8-10:30 a.m. at the Gilbert Fire Department Station No. 9 at 3355 E. Ocotillo Road, Gilbert. The department hosts the clinics monthly.

The car seat technicians at the clinic are certified to educate citizens on how to properly install their car seats. Technicians will not only help with installation, they will make sure citizens leave with the knowledge on how to install their child's car restraint on their own in the future.

The department asks residents not to stop at a fire station for assistance with a car seat as the firefighters are not car-seat certified and cannot assist with installation.

To participate in the clinic, you must be a Gilbert resident and bring proof of residency.

Only one vehicle per family is allowed, and the owner must bring the owner’s manual for the vehicle and the car seat. The owner should have read child-restraint manual before the appointment and have installed the restraint before coming to the clinic.

The vehicle must have room for the technician and yourself to climb in and out of the vehicle.

As a courtesy, if you or your child are sick we request that you reschedule your appointment.

Additional information is available by contact the Gilbert Fire and Rescue Administration Office at 480-503-6300.
