Another 'Gilbert Goon' arrested after sentencing

Posted

A second Gilbert Goon has been arrested shortly after sentencing in an unrelated assault — this time in connection with two criminal investigations, police said.

Gilbert police said Deleon Haynes, 19, is being charged with seven counts from the different investigations, the same month he was sentenced June 3 to three years supervised probation for his role in an Aug. 18, 2023, assault at an In-N-Out Burger in Gilbert.

Previously, Jacob Pennington was arrested and booked into the Gilbert-Chandler Unified Holding Facility on June 13 and charged with minor in consumption of alcohol, a class 2 misdemeanor. That came the same day he was sentenced for his role in a December 2022 assault at the Gilbert In-N-Out.

In Haynes’ first case from June 12, a Gilbert homeowner alleged Haynes came to their residence, where he had previously lived but had been kicked out, and engaged in an argument with a juvenile with whom he previously had been in a relationship.

Haynes admitted to officers that he had entered the home and argued with the juvenile, according to police.

Haynes was arrested and charged with one count of criminal trespassing, a class 6 felony and domestic violence offense, one count of disorderly conduct, a class 1 misdemeanor and domestic violence offense, and one count of disorderly conduct, a class 1 misdemeanor, police said.

In the second incident from June 21, a juvenile victim reported to officers that Haynes had allegedly made verbal threats directed at them and a family member, police said.

Haynes was arrested and processed at the Gilbert-Chandler Unified Holding Facility for one count of use of an electronic communication to terrify, intimidate, threaten, or harass, a class 1 misdemeanor and domestic violence offense; one count of use of an electronic communication to terrify, intimidate, threaten, or harass, a class 1 misdemeanor; one count of disorderly conduct, a class 1 misdemeanor and domestic violence offense; and one count of disorderly conduct, a class 1 misdemeanor, police said.

Haynes appeared before the Gilbert Municipal Court on the second case and is being held on bond in the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Also, Haynes was booked on the felony and misdemeanor charges related to the June 12 case as well as probation violation.
